IES Mediterrània was created with the name of IES Núm. 5 of Benidorm in the year 1999. At the moment, and temporarily, we are sharing the building with the Official School of Languages and the National University of Distance Education (UNED). Since the year 2004/05 it teaches students of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th of ESO, the Bachillerato of Humanities-Social Sciences and the Bachillerato of Nature and Health Sciences. As innovation, we have the Formative Cycles of the Catering and Tourism family (Cookery, Information and Tourist Commercialization, Catering Trade, Accommodation, Travel Agencies) that were taught in the CDT in La Cala.

Hopefully in the near future, we will be definetively located in a building under construction in the well-known zone of Via Parque, in Poniente.

The present denomination was aproved by the School Council of the Centre, which regarded it suitable because this name gathers the educational feeling of the school that is reflected in our Educational Project as a multilingual centre, open to people and ideas, tolerant and multicultural.

On 26th May of 2004, the Generalitat recognized and ratified this new denomination by including it on page 13,404 of the Official Newspaper of the Valencian Generalitat (DOGV).

Finally, after seven endless years, the building placed in "Vía Parque", in Poniente, comes to light officially on August 31st, 2006 with the signature of the protocol of delivery.
